Catch the Reading Bug!
How does Summer
Reading Work?
|
|
Pick up a Catch
the Reading Bug Summer Reading Entry Sheet at the Salmon Public Library or
click here to print a copy. Beginning June
16, keep track of the time you spend reading books, including being read to
or listening to audio books. Complete and return your Summer Reading
Entry Sheet to the location at which you registered by July 31 to earn prizes
and to be entered in prize drawings.
Prizes must be picked up before August 15, 2008. Entries
received after July 31 will not be eligible for prize drawings.
Registration

|
Register from June 16 through June 20
at the Salmon Public Library. Have
your child determine how many books or minutes he or she will read during the
program and sign a contract with the librarian for that amount. Children will receive a logbook to record
the titles of the books they read this summer and "bug coupons" on which to
write the child's name and book title for each completed book. These will be displayed around the library
for all to see! Bring in the reading log when you check out books and the
librarians will stamp the completed titles in the logbook.

We'll be
offering a variety of giveaways, contest and programs this summer!
For example,
100 minutes of reading may win bookmarks, buttons, stickers, 250 minutes
may win small novelty toys and items, for 500 minutes you may have a coupon
for an ice cream cone, and for 750 minutes you may receive a swimming pool
pass or an Art-in-the-Park coupon.
Fulfill your reading contract and be entered in a drawing for books
and gift certificates!
Achievement
awards or certificates will be given to children completing their reading
contract.
The more time spent
reading, the greater the chance to win!
Prizes are subject to availability; substitutions may be
necessary. Sponsor's rules and limits apply.
There will be special
programs advertised as dates are confirmed, so watch for posters and
newspaper ads!
